Harry Potter Rocks

We had a viewing of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets last night. It was most excellent. I really like that movie. Even better is the fact that I rented it, so I now have the DVD til Wed and can watch all the extras that we didn't watch at the viewing. I ended up making Chocolate Chip Mint cookies for the event and I will say that they were the worst work I ever did. Everyone still liked them but I wasn't very satisfied with them. They came out really flat, were very unsightly to look at, and weren't as soft as I like my cookies. Oh well, I'll just have to figure out how to avoid the flatness. I think if maybe I put more flour in and didn't let the cookies airiate as much, they would turn out better. I also should put more chocolate chips in and use real butter instead of margarine. Oh well, maybe next time.

I had a most excellent conversation with Mary last night, errr, this morning. The content was a little unusal, but it was a real coversation and it seems it's been awhile since we've sat down and had one of those. Granted we were both sitting in front of computer screens typing, but you know what I mean. She's apparently made one of her goals this quarter to spend more time with her friends, so I'm hoping I'll be able to snag a bit of that time she's devoting, so that it won't be purely IM conversations. Not to put a hint or anything in my blog because I would never do that.

I have spent the majority of my waking hours today reading "The Republic" by Plato. I find it absolutely entralling, which is really convenient because it's the required reading for my philosophy class. I also was able to borrow Mary's Kant book, so that I can hopefully read more into the ideas that Professor Lynch briefly introduced to us from Kant. Maybe I have a possibility for a philosophy minor here. Nah, I doubt it. Too much writing.

Did I mention that it's official? I looked at my transcript today (ok ok, unofficial transcript, but that means it official honest) and my major is listed as Agricultural Business. They also managed to transfer the 8 units that I had acqured from Souther Oregon University. It raised my GPA like .15. Yay! I'm going to be seeing much more of this GPA raising if I have anything to say about too. Well I have a Business Law test followed by a "pop-quiz" in philosophy. Pop-quiz is in quotes there because he says with a degree of hinting and assuredness that he might feel inclined to give us one. Meaning expect one. I'm really glad I got this professor. See ya.

I have escaped

I finally managed to rid myself of horrible thorn in my side called "Engineering." It unfortunately means that I'm now an Agribusiness major, but at least I won't get kicked out at the end of the quarter now. So I'm way stoked about that. Hopefully this will give me the time to get into the College of Business. On another note I got the philosophy class that I wanted with the really cool teacher. It's a lot of fun.

In fencing there has been a new development. The intermediate class is both learning epee and our coach is now the head coach Eric McDonald. This is all really cool. Although the first night that we did epee I was not happy about it at all. At least the fencing epee part. I am very much not finished with learning foil, which is why I didn't want to change weapons yet. To make it worse the first night I had a left-handed weapon that I was trying to use in my right hand. That was not fun. On the night of the next lesson though I had a whole heap more fun. I had a right-handed weapon and the drills were challenging. The entire night was really fun though because we spent a long time warming up and doing some strenght building exercises. Mary found out that we're learning epee, so is going to fence me this thursday, after my fourth lesson. That'll be cool cuz last time I worked with Mary on drills it was really helpful. She doesn't like foil though, so I haven't been able to work with her since. It should be good.

Friday night was Sun's 21st birthday. Sun is Goat's girlfriend. She has adopted me as her concubine.(there's a long story behind that) It was a lot of fun though, I normally just hear about Sun because I'm always so busy, but this time I actually go to hang out with her and the other friends that I normally just hear about. It was good.

Saturday Nicole IMs me asking if the BU was going to be doing anything that night. I said we should and eventually came up with the idea of dinner and a board game night at my house. this was about 3 o'clock. I spent the next 5 hours working on that dinner. People were supposed to show up at 7. At 7 I had 3 people there. It was that way for the next hour. Nicole actually had called and said that she had been kidnapped, which meant she was going to be late. Finally people started showing up. It seemed like everyone had eaten already though. Well not everyone, but I was way dissappointed in the fruits of my labor. 50 dollars and 5 hours I guess really built my expectations high. I really started to run low on energy after my hopes had been dashed. It was still fun though. In between doing dishes, cleaning up scraps, getting drinks, and storing food I was able to sit down and talk, which is my favorite thing in the world. I love just sitting down and loitering with a bunch of people that I'm good friends with.

After the shindig I took Eric Phillips home and we started talking on the ride over there. We ended up continuing the conversation once we got to his place for maybe 45 mins or something, in all honesty I have no idea how long we were sitting there talking, but a goodly amount of time at anyrate.

Tonight is Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets at Chris's house! (I decided not to host tonight for my roomates' sake.) That means that I ahve to make cookies though. I really have so little energy right now, but everyone expects it. So I have to, that means I need to go get butter now. So bye.

I'm sick...

...but before I get to that I'll talk about the Mexican Cruise I went on. It was great to see my grandparents and everything and the ship had some cool shows and the like, but it number wasn't my scene at all and number two I didn't have anyone I knew my age there. I tried to meet people, I did, but the only venues they had for meeting people was out at the pool, where everyone was already in a large group and I was invader to that, or at the "club" that they had, which was bump and grind type dancing that I'm most certainly not comfortable with. So the majority of the cruise I spent being lonely because I'm too shy when I'm in an uncomfortable situation. I'm still glad that I went though, because it was good to see my grandparents, and I know what to expect from a cruise now. If I go on a cruise again, I will most certainly bring someone else with me. That will make things so much better.

Alright, the quarter has started now. Fencing has started.(Yay!!!) I sorta have classes. I got into my Macro class and I got the Business Law class. I also got the really basic computing class, but I'm going to be talking with the professor about challenging that class. I don't think that I'm going to be geting the philosophy class, which really sucks because the prof is absolutely awesome. He is easily the best lecturer that I've had in my entire life. He has so much energy, not to mention he's talking about something that I find interesting already. I really hope I get him but my odds are 2 out 15 that'll I'll get in. Hopefully I know by tomorrow or even as early as today, but we'll see. What this means though is that I need to find some other classes to take. Or at least one more, cuz with challenging one and not getting into one that drops me down to 8 units that taking (though technically I would be taking 11 when I passed the computer challenge test), but I want more than that for this quarter. I've dropped out of a lot of my clubs and will have time on my hands to do homework and I could use the GPA boost that actually working on my classes will give me.

Now to the part of me being sick. I am sick as a dog. I woke up thursday morning feeling really, really crappy. I did alright that day, I slept in, then I slept for another 5 hours, then I went to fencing and I felt absolutely awesome after fencing, but then friday rolled around. I have my four hour Macro class on friday, which I had to go to because I wasn't enrolled. So I went and then afterwards I played racquetball, then I went and put fliers out with Sandy, then I went to dinner, then I went dancing, then I went home finally. Let me tell you I felt so crappy by the time I finally got home. I had expended every bit of energy that I had on maintaining and almost pleasant exterior. I can hardly remember the car ride from Madonna to home (luckily Sandy was driving). I was soooo dead. I got 12 hours of sleep last night and I picked up some new medicine and I'm feeling much better now, but man oh man am I sick. When it gets to te poin that I can't push myself any farther that really bad. Well that's all I have now. I know it's rather short for how long it's been since I've posted but I'll try and post more often. See ya.
